I love New Year’s. There is something fun about looking back at the past year and I really enjoy the optimism for the future. In particular I love New Year’s resolutions. I’ve done a pretty good job of sticking to some of mine from the past two years and I’m hoping 2012 is a continuation of that. I thought I would share this year’s goals…
- Dance Everyday 2012: I am going to dance everyday in 2012 for a minimum of 10 seconds and preferably in a new location. I’ll track this with #danceeveryday2012. So far, it has been a lot of fun.
- Become ambidextrous. Particularly learn how to write with my left hand but grow more comfortable using a mouse, cutting with knives and other tasks I would generally use my right hand for.
- Don’t speak ill of others. I would like to start practicing more Right Speech and not say anything about someone that I wouldn’t say with them in the room.
- Start playing the Cello. I’m currently looking for a $50 cello. My friend replied, “Finding a cello for under $50 is easy, playing a cello that’s worth less than $50 is impossible.”
- Sit up straight. My posture is terrible and I’m learning from my seated meditation how much better I can breath and feel by maintaining a proper posture.
- Learn more words. I found a really cool app that pulls several different “words of the day” from online and displays them daily. I am going to commit to reading that everyday and taking the quizzes in the app to test my retention.
- Add morning meditation back into my schedule. I’ve been doing good sitting at least one, generally two sessions at night but since I started going to work at 7:30ish I have not being starting my day off right.
- Learn something about basketball. I have a brother-in-law who’s a coach so this one shouldn’t be too hard.
There are a few wrap up resolutions from last year…
- Lose my last 12 lbs. (of my 62 lbs. goal)
- Finish my photo a day project from 2011.
- Absolutely no high fructose corn syrup under any circumstance.
Happy New Year to everyone!
